New iOS 10 Beta devices registered on Core v8.0.x or Core v8.5.0.0 will appear as an OS X device

The information below is only applicable to customers on Core v8.0.x or Core v8.5.0.0

SUMMARY
Newly registered iOS 10 Beta devices appear as OS X devices on Core v8.0.x or Core v8.5.0.0. A fix for this issue has already been incorporated starting with Core v8.5.0.1 and Core v9.0.x versions.

Note: This issue does not impact previously registered devices that are upgraded from iOS 9.x to iOS 10 Beta, only newly registered iOS 10 Beta devices are impacted.  MobileIron does not support OS beta releases and only provides support services for generally available OS releases.  As iOS is still in beta, MobileIron will not provide support for any MDM specific features on iOS 10 during the period this release is in beta.

IMPACT
Newly registered iOS 10 Beta devices on Core v8.0.x or Core v8.5.0.0 may encounter the following effects:
•    Security policies not applied to the devices
•    Dynamic labels not applied to the devices
•    Apps not pushed to the devices
•    Configurations and Policies not applied to the devices

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, MobileIron recommends that customers and partners upgrade their Core to v8.5.0.2 or Core 9.0.x versions.  Although the issue is fixed in Core v8.5.0.1, it is recommended to upgrade to Core v8.5.0.2 as best practice since this release contains additional fixes for unrelated issues.

Note: Newly registered iOS 10 Beta devices against Core v8.0.x or Core v8.5.0.0 will have the incorrect platform names even if the Core is upgraded to v8.5.0.2 or v9.0.x. To correct this issue, the device will need to be retired and re-registered after the Core is upgraded to v8.5.0.2 or v9.0.x.
